I have never stayed at a hotel in Winnipeg. Why? Because I have a house here. But we couldn't think of a better place than the Fairmont for our contest winner to stay. With incredible views of Winnipeg and a central location to everything, Darcy was in for a treat staying at the famous hotel.

The staff was incredible. When we got to the hotel, the front desk employee noted how everyone was buzzing about Darcy's arrival and they were excited for his contest win. Come on, that's pretty cool!

"The hotel was so relaxing," said Darcy. "I expected with it being downtown you'd hear constant traffic and noise. It was quiet and peaceful every night."

Hy's Steakhouse. What can I say. I had been there before for a birthday but never had I eaten a steak -- not just there, I mean ever in my life. So this was a first for me and I also hoped our contest winner wasn't a vegetarian because the good folks at Hy's were gracious to welcome us for a delicious dinner.

Darcy had some escargot while I enjoyed a caesar salad (my fave at any restaurant) and then the meat came. I have to admit, Hy's is a great place to enjoy your first steak. And much like checking into the Fairmont, Darcy got the celebrity treatment with the Hy's staff knowing all about his contest win.
